Overcoming Anxiety

Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to, and seeing clearly whatever is happening in our lives. It is not a way to eliminate our problems, but it is a way to calm our minds in order to respond to everyday stress in a better way and improve our wellbeing. Being mindful helps us to feel less anxious and step away from negative emotional and physiological reactions. If you want yo start experiencing mindfulness, you need to start giving your full attention to the simple tasks you perform throughout the day. As humans we are often not present when doing things. Our minds are easily distracted. We often fail to notice the good things about our lives, fail to hear what our bodies are telling us, or poison ourselves with toxic self criticism. When we live in fear, we are always thinking about the countless things that could go wrong. Every day we hear about terrible things, and it’s not a surprise that often fear and anxiety affect our lives. The inability to tolerate uncertainty, plays a huge role in anxiety and worry; but is it possible to be certain about everything in life? The answer is no. The truth is that thinking about all the things that could go wrong doesn’t make life any more predictable. Paying more attention to the present moment, observing your own thoughts and feelings, and the world around you is the best way to fight anxiety and improve your mental wellbeing. If negative emotions and constant worrying are playing a big part in your life, try paying attention to your breath: start counting each breath, four seconds inhale, then four seconds exhale. Once this is comfortable, prolong your breath to six seconds. Since I’ve learned this technique, I’ve noticed that it’s easier to pay attention to things around me. I remember more of what I’ve done, and I feel a lot more creative. You are only being mindful when you’re intensely aware of what you're sensing and feeling at every moment, without interpretation or judgment. All meditation practice starts with mindfulness, because it gives the person the opportunity to become more present with themselves just as they are. If you feel overwhelmed by anxiety, remember that you can accept what’s happening, and live through it, while also observing it in the context of non-judgment. I’ve started meditating to help me manage anxiety in order to change the relationship between my thoughts and my reactions to those thoughts. By remaining present in my body, I’ve learned that the anxiety I experienced was merely a reaction to perceived threats. Mindfulness allowed me to respond in a positive way to threatening events instead of being reactive. There are many other advantages to mindfulness. When we are aware of our thoughts we can pay more attention to them, and filter incoming thoughts. We are also able to separate thoughts from ourselves, and consequently, don’t take negative thoughts too seriously. Being in the present moment, gives us the chance to take advantage of opportunities when they present themselves. When we make a point of practicing mindfulness every day, it gets easier and easier, and becomes as much of a habit as our normal state of distractedness. If you feel the need to give your negative thoughts some attention, choose a set time and place for worrying. Try to set a worry time every day, during the morning if possible, in order to eliminate disturbing thoughts from on your mind, and remember that the rest of the day is worry-free. Self compassion allows us to understand our feelings and protect ourselves against big or devastating emotions. Learn to nurture your capacity for acceptance, mindfulness, kindness, and compassion, because this is the best formula to overcome anxiety and live a better, more peaceful life.

Healthy Relationships

Healthy relationships are important to live happier but there is no such thing as perfect relationships. The relationships we form in life, have the potential to enrich our lives and add to our enjoyment in general. However, these same relationships can cause discomfort, and sometimes even cause damage to our emotional state. A healthy relationship should bring more happiness than stress into your life. Every relationship will have stress at times, but it should not be a source of negative emotions on either member of the relationship. A healthy relationship is based on trust, mutual respect, honesty, support, equality, enjoyment, separate identities and good communication. In order to form healthy relationships, you need to understand that your own health and well-being are important. You need to value yourself so you can also value another person. If you feel that you currently have an unhealthy relationship in your life, once you can recognise what it is that is causing you to feel overwhelmed, drained, or, simply, bad in your relationship, you need to take the time to determine what needs to be changed, in order to set boundaries in your relationship with this other person. When you fail to communicate how you feel, and you want to make someone happy even at the expense of what’s best for you, you are prioritising others and putting yourself last. You are in an unhealthy relationship if: -You feel worried when you disagree with the other person; -You experience a lack of fairness and equality; -You feel pressure to quit activities you usually/used to enjoy; -Notice your partner attempts to control your actions and behaviour; -Have a lack of privacy, and may be forced to share everything with the other person; -Experience yelling or physical violence during a disagreement; -Do not make time to spend with one another; -Have no common friends, or have a lack of respect for each others’ friends and family; -Start to change who you are for the other person Relationships become unhealthy when we worry so much about how the other person perceive us, or the other person's feelings, that we forget to look out for our own needs. If not careful, we act from a place of fear, rather than love. We need to acknowledge the emotions behind our choices, because neglecting them can block us from doing what’s best for ourselves, and damage our relationships. That’s why being assertive about our values gives us the chance to practice self love and release the ego's fearful perceptions. Practicing self-compassion will help you learn to love and accept yourself, and that will make it easier for you to become stronger in your emotional interactions with others. Keep your emotions separate from other person’s emotions, although you empathise with the people you care about. Set some time aside for yourself every day. Get grounded within yourself. Take the time to do some breath work, meditation, or to tune in with your body and soul in order to connect to your inner essence and nurture your sense of self worth. This simple technique can stop anxiety or poor self-esteem to prevent you from taking care of yourself. In order to become stronger emotionally, you have to understand what your thoughts about yourself and the world are. These thoughts are responsible for your emotional responses. You have the choice in how you want to feel and you have the ability to act on it. By taking the time to be with your own thoughts, reflect, and analyse your feelings, you are able to consciously make the distinct difference between yourself and the other person. Always remember that you have the right to eliminate toxic people from your life, those who would manipulate and abuse you. Try to surround yourself with supportive people who respect you and your choices. That’s the only way to build healthy relationships that makes you feel good and have good self-esteem. Remember that a positive relationship is where you respect each other’s individuality, have activities apart from one another, are able to express yourself to the other person without fear of consequences and you are able to feel secure and comfortable.

Now that christmas is just around the corner, it is time to start thinking about festive planning. Planning for the festive season can also make a huge difference when it comes to your finances. Social gatherings combined with presents, alongside everyday expenses can be the recipe for financial struggle. It’s vital to be conscious of the costs involved, so that when 2018 arrive, you’re not suffering from a major spending hangover. When it comes to Christmas Financial planning, the first thing you need to consider is your budget. You need to decide what your budget is for each person on your Christmas list. When you make your Christmas list, set higher budgets for family and close friends. Here are some tips when doing your Christmas Planning: -Use a notebook or a planner to write down all the names on your list and also brainstorm gift ideas; -Set up a budget for each person and also plan for handmade gifts and cards to go along with your main gift (if appropriate); -Do your online shopping in advance, so you will have time to wrap all gifts without any rushing; -Track all your Christmas orders and ensure to send away Christmas gifts and cards by post before December 12; -Get extra christmas wrapping in case you run out and take advantage of the seasonal offers to ensure you save money; -Always save receipts in case of returns; -Take stock of your decorations. Did you ever notice that the universe is made up entirely of energy? We are constantly absorbing and emitting energy: we can sense love, peace, fear, anxiety and stress from other people. We always attract the same thing that we emit. The more positive energy we give off, the more we'll receive. Love attracts love. Anger attracts anger. Joy attracts joy, and being miserable leads you to ignore the positives in your life, leading to negativity and unhappiness. To start valuing your happiness, it’s important to focus on yourself, rather than on others, because only you know what's best for you. The more you listen to yourself, the more successful you will be in finding fulfilment and purpose in your life. Developing a positive perspective in life, maintaining focus and a sense of direction can be a real challenge, but it is not impossible when you pay attention to the inner desires from your soul: the ones that will allow you to become the person you are destined to be. Most of us find it difficult to figure out what we value in life, because we’ve never given it much thought. Fulfilment comes from knowing we’re living life on our own terms, and doing more of what makes us feel excited about our lives. When we emit positive energy through our actions and thoughts, we attract more positive vibes into our lives. But how can we do that? Start by taking time for yourself in order to renew, heal, and create reserves of energy and peace. To feel good in this world, it is compulsory to understand and love yourself. Sometimes, we can become so involved in giving to others, that we neglect our own needs. Dedicating some time to reconnect to your inner self will raise your inner energy frequency, and improve the energy surrounding you. Learn to listen to your intuition, by always paying attention to how you feel before making any decision. Be mindful and patient when it comes to your own life, and remember to consider if you feel nervous or motivated before doing anything that will affect you. In order to be in control of your emotional status, you need to realise that hiding from your emotions does not help. When I started practicing meditation I understood how important it is to detach myself from my thoughts and feelings, so I can process my emotions in a healthy way, and improve the way I perceive myself and the world around me. Our minds are controlled by us, and we have the power to change our self-talk. We can’t expect others to love and respect us when we are not kind and compassionate to ourselves. You have to believe that you are worthy, and understand that without meeting your own needs, you will never be the best daughter, friend, mother, employee or partner that you could be. When we change the way we think and see the world around us, we are able to radiate confidence, contentment, and awesome vibes. That’s how we can achieve greater awareness and mindfulness of our thoughts and get rid of negative emotions. The next advice I have for you is to acknowledge all the good things in your life. Think about your friendships, the important people in your life, and allow your mind to focus your energy towards the positive relationships you have. The more positive connections you make, the better you will be able to repel negative energies, and the easier it will be for you to feel spiritually fulfilled. Remember that quantity is not important, is the quality of your relationships that matter. I’ve learned that in order to keep our thoughts positive, we must concentrate on what we have. When we seek happiness and satisfaction we need to understand how important it is to free ourselves from past resentments and disappointments. It’s our job to let go of anything that interferes with our present happiness, causes us grief, or restricts our future, and find the blessings and lessons in past situations. We can't let what happened in the past to ruin our lives right now. Think about the things that makes you smile, and remember that a change of perspective can make a big difference in your wellbeing. Did you ever noticed how sometimes a single event can ruin our entire day? I believe this happens because our minds are trained to give more importance to the negative events. We spend our energy dwelling on what happened so much, that we become unaware of the more enjoyable parts of the day. When we understand that our minds works this way, we can intentionally change the focus to the positive things around us that we are ignoring, and create a whole new perspective on things. Don’t be afraid to be happy. It’s easy to believe that being happy is a way to invite negative forces to work against it, when the contrary is true. Positivity makes you view and experience life in a brighter way. When you treat yourself and others kindly, and you emit love and good intentions, you are increasing the chances of happiness in your life. Live in the moment, and refuse to spend your time thinking about what happened yesterday, at the complete expense of today. Be hopeful about your future, and avoid imagining it in a negative spectrum. Happiness is the ability of moving forward knowing that the future will be better than the past.

Raising Your Vibration

Your vibration, your perception of life, the pattern of your thoughts and actions, is what creates your world. You can raise your energy and use it to make your life better by becoming conscious of your thoughts. Everything you think, say, or feel, becomes your reality. So pay attention to what’s going on in your mind and take steps to turn things around when appropriate. When next a negative thought pops into your head, take the time to acknowledge it, ask yourself if the idea is true or if it is beneficial to you, and then dismiss it and turn it around for the positive. Your emotions and behaviour are directly connected to the way you perceive your life and your circumstances. Look for inspiration. Beauty is all around us, yet so often we don’t see it. Stop rushing for a moment and take the time to look around or stand in the sun and appreciate your surroundings. Meditation can make you to raise your vibration because it helps your concentration and allows you to accept your emotions without judging them or yourself. It will help you to recharge your physical and emotional batteries, and the better rested you are, the more effective and calm you will be. Work on being open minded and let go of judgement. If we are highly judgmental, we will easily reject ourselves and other people. Self improvement is motivated by the possibility of knowing your true essence, including your flaws, allowing you to have greater compassion, both for others and also for yourself. Positive emotions give you energy, while negative emotions takes your energy away. When you are motivated and full of positivity, you radiate energy and enthusiasm. Reading and telling yourself positive phrases can also raise your vibration by allowing you to increase your self confidence and reach a stage, where you can change and improve negative situations that holds you back in life. We usually have a low vibration because we get attached to old habits and negative thoughts, but we need to keep in mind that only when we embrace positivity we can be happier. Meditation and mindfulness are very important to balance our emotions and lift our spirits. If you are feeling low, take a moment to look at how you feel, what you are thinking, and what is going on around you in order to balance your emotions. If your mind wanders into criticism or worrying, take notice and gently redirect it to sensations in the present moment. Write down the things you are grateful for. Making a gratitude list shifts your vibration from focusing on what you don’t have to what is already abundant in your life. And that sends out a message to the universe that you want more to be positive. Every day, reserve a few minutes to go to a quiet place and focus on the beautiful things in your life. Visualise relaxing things, such as a calm beach, a deserted island or a country road. Your outlook in life improves when you understand the importance of your own energy levels and when you focus on living a more peaceful and happy life. Remember that enlightenment comes from within. Before you go to bed at night, remind yourself of the positive things that happened during your day, and set an intention to enjoy the next day. Imagine wonderful things happening from the time you get up until you go to bed. You’ll be amazed at the impact this has on your outlook and experiences. When you are aware of your own vibration you can find the real motives of your thoughts and actions. By analysing the circumstances that led up to negative emotions, you are able to control them, and eliminate them. If you learn to be mindful and not react immediately to facts, you can build up a pretty good sense of what deserves more research and what doesn’t even need your attention. Constantly remind yourself of your values, and about what you want in life. You need to silence the constant critical inner voice which reminds you of your mistakes, and focus on your qualities. Use unpleasant feelings to change your focus in order to transform your life and gain self knowledge. Surround yourself with good energy, talk to positive people, read a motivational book, and you will feel your emotions change. Keep in mind that only when you understand your own feelings, you can change how you feel. When you reframe you feelings, you feel empowered. Laugh, listen to the music you love, connect to nature, do something that you love to do. All those things can improve your mood and raise your energetic state. Remember that only when your vibration is high you are equipped with strength to overcome any obstacle in your way.

Embrace Your Life

Do you have a dream or a vision for how would you like your life to be? If you do, you need to develop a plan to determine how you will reach the fulfillment of your dream, one step at a time. Maybe you don’t believe that you can use your subconscious mind to turn your vision into reality, and if you don’t, now it is time for you to start trying something new, because it is true when they say that when you change your mind, you can change your life. When you start to value your existence, and make a decision to count your own blessings, that’s when things start to take a positive turn in your life. Instead of paying attention to someone else’s blessings, begin to turn your focus to yourself, and your inner power to find meaning and wholeness. Acknowledging your blessings is the best way to change your mindset, and to be open to positive changes. Negative minds are always obsessed with the things they don’t have, instead of being thankful for what they do have in their lives. An ungrateful person can never accomplish his/her dreams, because they spend all of their energy comparing themselves to other people, and wishing they were someone else. If you want to live a successful life, you need to look for the positive in any situation. A positive mind help you to create a stronger sense of personal power. Positive or negative vibes can be transmitted through the power of thoughts. Self talk is the inner voice that can either encourage or discourage us. Be aware of the way you talk to yourself, and make a conscious effort to always talk to yourself in a positive manner. Choose words that inspire you, motivate you, make you laugh, and boost your mood. Self motivation is all about figuring out what type of positive self talk will encourage and motivate you to always strive for more in life. Working on a positive mindset can be a constant challenge in the beginning of your journey to a happier life, because some of us can become so used to have a pessimist mindset that it is hard to realise when we have a negative thought. When you feel that you need to complain about something, try to think about the things that makes you smile. When you feel stressed, you should remember that in every moment you have the choice to free yourself from negativity and accept peace. When we are at peace we attract positive energy to our lives, but, if we insist on creating disturbance, we also distance ourselves from our dreams. You shouldn’t wait to be happy. Value the present moment, enjoy what’s happening, while it’s happening. Self-awareness is the key to happiness. Everybody wants to be happy, but having that kind of pleasure can also frightens us. Allow yourself to experience positive emotions and give yourself the treatment you deserve: love yourself, accept your imperfections, and allow yourself to honour your values. Identify what is most important to you, and focus on that. You need to prioritise yourself in order to keep a healthy mind. My life really changed for the better when I started developing greater awareness of my thoughts. Focus on positive goals, while you continue to seek purpose in your job, relationship, and other activities. When you are aware of how your mind works, you are able to make better decisions. Your life can be great. If you are unhappy, it’s signal to you that now it's time to make a change and adopt a more positive lifestyle. Be true to your essence, monitor your self-talk and listen to your inner voice. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you don’t deserve to have what you want. You can live a life that you are excited about if you embrace your dreams, follow your heart and cherish your life.

Nurture Yourself

Nurturing means caring for and protecting (someone or something) while they are growing. Nurturing ourselves is finding the sweet child within and giving them soothing comfort, reassurance, and warm, loving thoughts and wishes. It is about taking care of the internal emotional side of our being and learning self-compassion. Sometimes we don’t treat ourselves very well. We break promises we made to ourselves, we don’t care about what we eat, don’t get enough sleep, become very self-critical. To make things worse, when we don’t care about nurturing ourselves, we tend not to have many friends, because we usually treat others the way we treat ourselves. Taking care of yourself is never a selfish act, it is about seeking and nurturing internal validation. In order to live a good life, we must know that we are worthy of respect and love. We need to let go of other’s expectations for our life, and release the painful memories. Caring about yourself starts when you listen to your soul in order to explore what it is telling you. We need to care for ourselves in order to find the better way to process all our feelings to counter-act the negativity we are exposed to, day after day. How you can nurture yourself: -Avoiding stress by finding ways to relax, like meditation, yoga, getting a massage, taking a bath or walking outdoors; -Living a healthier lyfestyle: eating healthy foods, getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and avoiding drugs and alcohol; - Incorporating joy, spirit, and relaxation in your life. Try to journal about your experiences. Keeping a journal is a great way to learn about yourself, and discover how you really feel, in order to manage your stress in a healthy way. -Practicing good hygiene: Good hygiene is important for social, medical, and psychological reasons in that it not only reduces the risk of illness, but it also improves the way others view you and how you view yourself; -Surrounding yourself with positive people; -Setting healthy boundaries with others: Let people know what you want and don’t want. Tell them what’s okay for you and what’s not. -Paying attention to your sleeping routine; -Trying to do something you enjoy every day, that might mean dancing, watching a favorite TV show, working in the garden, painting or reading; Be aware of what is happening outside, in the world around you, and inside, in your feelings and thoughts. Ask your inner child what he or she needs. Asking yourself about your inner needs, listening to your innermost thoughts and feelings, and then offering yourself warm validation is very important. When you make mistakes, talk to your inner child and calm him or her, while you also reassure. Practising mindfulness can also help you become more aware of your own moods and reactions. Remember that you are not defined by a moment, or period of time in your life, focus on the present moment and avoid revisiting your past all the time. Make time to discover your values, so you can live your life according to them. Nurture your spirit by contemplating and thinking about the greater meaning of your life. Focus on addressing any obstacles that are stoping you to live a better life, so you can find the path towards balance and healthy emotions. Remember that a few changes in your lifestyle choices will make a great positive impact in your health and wellbeing.

Self Esteem

All week on our blog and face book site we have been looking at self-esteem, why its important and why it’s so fragile too. Our self-esteem is so important, it controls how we feel about ourselves, how confident we are and affects our relationships. Our self-esteem is often affected by what we see in the mirror and how much we criticise what we see - men and women alike find fault with what they see and of course what we say to ourselves affects our self worth, self esteem and well-being. So a really good place to start improving your self esteem is in loving how you look and a really good exercise for this is the Magic Mirror. Its takes time and effort but it works if you can keep it up. Buy a mirror preferably a full length one, take care choosing it, make sure it is one you really like and one that fits in with your home. Then hang it and clean it. This mirror can only ever show you the good in you; it can never show you anything you can criticise. You cannot use this mirror to sees how you look or check your wrinkles or see if your bum looks good in this. You should stand in front of the mirror once a day and let it take you to an area of your body, once there concentrate on it and find one good, beautiful or stunning thing you see - like your beautiful green eyes, your voluptuous hips or your strong arms. Really stare at this part of you and feel positive about it, then say out loud (makes it more of a fact if you speak it) how wonderful this part of you is. Repeat every day until you feel brave enough to do this semi clothed or naked. Little by little you will appreciate just how handsome and beautiful you are, it takes time and you may need to start with little things. Justice Major Arcana 11

The medieval foil of justice is decorated with a woman wearing a cap embellished with the solar emblem, in her right had she has a sword and in her left hand scales. This card is not just about human justice; it is also about the law of cause and effect. This tarot card serves as a reminder of the divine balance between the cosmos and earth. The Sanskrit word for this law is called “karma2. There are symbols within the justice card; the sun, the moon, the swastika (energy spiral through the universe and a marker for the sun to follow and the sauvastika (symbol of light, life and peace) explaining harmony within the universe. The sword represents the cosmic beam that is supporting the spirit of the world. This beam of light keeps the balance between the world and the universe, this also ensures that the flow of energy out of life will rise above opposition (the law of cause and effect) the scales are there to represent the balance of harmony within life so as to achieve happiness within and not create our own destiny by manipulation, greed, ego or power. A simpler explanation for divination; this tarot card can be our conscience, that nagging voice saying we must not have that extra doughnut because of the consequences. If you are asking about your professional life and this card is appear it indicates that your work efforts have been recognised and now you will reap the rewards.,p> For romance if you are in a relationship you may be opposite in nature but together you make a whole. When looking for love this card explains not to dismiss someone because of your own prejudices maybe you think they are too overweight or wear the wrong shoes, give this person a chance because you may have a deeper connection than you realise. The hermit comes across the devil on his journey. The hermit knows he must understand the devil to ignore him will only strengthen the devil and let the hermit break his resolve to find true enlightment. If the hermit realises that to understand the devil will give him the sense of what he has been feeling and trying to repress. In the cosmos all opposites blend together, in the devils world he tries to tear them apart so there is no duality. The devil will try and rip anything apart that may give rise to the spiritual truth, he will divide everything that is working towards unity. The devil unhinges and disguises relationships that work; yin and yang, positive and negative, male and female e.t.c. The devil at these times becomes the expression of evil because only the pure truth comes from blending opposites together. The hermit now understands his own torments he has been through and once again his faith shows him there is no darkness but lack of light
